Ask Siri How Long Until Your Holiday 🗣️
Sometimes you just want to know how many sleeps are left without unlocking your phone. Emoji Countdown now works with Siri, Spotlight and the Shortcuts app, so the answer is only a question away 😴
Things to ask Siri
Say “in Emoji Countdown” at the end, so Siri knows which app you mean.
- “What’s my next countdown in Emoji Countdown?” Siri tells you what’s coming up next, without opening the app.
- “How long until Holiday in Emoji Countdown?” Use the name of any countdown and Siri tells you the time left.
- “List my countdowns in Emoji Countdown.” Find out how many you have coming up.
- “Add a countdown in Emoji Countdown.” Siri asks what it’s called and when it is, then saves it 🎉
- “Open Holiday in Emoji Countdown.” Jump straight to that countdown.
- “Delete Holiday in Emoji Countdown.” Siri checks with you first, then it’s gone (iOS 27).
- “Search for Christmas in Countdown.” Opens the app with your search filled in (iOS 27).
Siri understands your emoji too. Ask about “birthday cake” and it will find your 🎂 countdown, even if it has no title.
Choosing an emoji when you add by voice
You can’t say an emoji out loud, so countdowns added by voice get a 🎉. To pick one yourself, use Type to Siri and start the name with your emoji, like “🎂 Mum’s 60th”.
Find countdowns in Spotlight 🔍
Swipe down on your Home Screen and type the name of a countdown. You’ll see how long is left right in the results, and a tap opens it in the app. Searching for what the emoji is, like “christmas tree”, works too.
Rather keep one private? Open the countdown and turn off Show in Search & Siri.
Build your own Shortcuts ⚡️
Open the Shortcuts app and search for Emoji Countdown to find these actions:
- Next Countdown
- Time Until Countdown
- Add Countdown
- List Upcoming Countdowns
- Open Countdown
Put one on your Action button, in Control Center or on your Lock Screen. Or try an automation that reads out your next countdown each morning ☀️
